We have seen Congress avoid passing the Paycheck Fairness Act. We have seen Congress avoid Protecting Girls by Preventing Child Marriage. We have seen Wall Street execs have the best year ever. And here on the ground consulting and coaching and teaching women who work in corner offices to those with offices carved from a corner of space in their apartments, we have seen women desperate to take control of their time, their relationships and their work.

  • We understand that this is the year we take things into our own hands, into your own hearts and make it so.
  • We understand that this is the year that we really, really get the correlation between our wellbeing and the wellbeing of the girl in Kenya struggling for a chance to get an Education.
  • We understand that this is the year that we really, really get that if we all had to make it on just our salary alone, that we could do much more than just survive. We could thrive. We could all thrive.

Negotiating with yourself is the first, most important step in achieving your dreams, goals and plans. This means designing your days and hours with both accomplishment and white space in mind. How you negotiate the 168 hours you and the rest of your cohorts on the planet have each week depends on your capacity for saying YES to your priorities, and NO to your distractions.

Let 2011 be the Year of Self Worth.

 

Negotiate your relationships.You have a mental list of the people you have a ping in your gut about. Those you've hurt or left behind, and those who have done the same to you. You know what I mean. And you know who they are. Clean it up, make amends, say what you have to say, let go and move on.

Let 2011 be the Year of No Avoidance.

 

Negotiate yourself into right work and into a livelihood that honors your purpose and your purse. This means using your voice, asking for what you want and getting the salaries, rates, fees that reflect both your intrinsic value, and your value in the hands of your market (your employer, your clients, your customers).

Let 2011 be the Year of Right Work.
