Why it's hard for us to speak up in meetings.
Go for promotions.
Ask for that raise.
Stop saying yes to every single request.
It's simple really.
We want to prove ourselves, to be of value, to have a reason to fit in.
...and I say POC because I know this is a Black issue but really it isn't.
Dark bodies have been persecuted for centuries.
Look at Asia...Africa...Europe.
It sucks.
You think we don't know what you think of us? What your parents say when you bring us home...even now?
I'm so glad America is airing its dirty laundry for all of the world to see because guess what....the world will benefit from it.
The work WE'RE doing now in REAL TIME - hurts. It fucking does.
Yes, we're all sitting awake at night.
Having panic attacks.
Manic episodes.
Waking up in cold sweats and just I don't know...questioning, everyone and everything around us.
BUT THIS IS SO MUCH BIGGER THAN US. AND THIS DISCOMFORT WE FEEL....
